Stats Graduate Student Handbook
The purpose of this handbook is to help Statistics graduate students succeed at Colorado State University. All graduate students are expected to become familiar with policies, regulations, and requirements of the graduate program. Students are also responsible for adherence to policies outlined in the Graduate & Professional Bulletin and Graduate School deadlines.

Master – MS
Doctor of Philosophy – PhD
Master of Applied Statistics – MAS (Data Science or Statistical Science)
Student responsibilities and advisor/committee requirements:
Graduate assistantships
Two types of assistantships are available for the support of graduate students: Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) and Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)
- GRAs are provided by a faculty member’s research funding in support of a specific project
- GTAs are funded by the department to help with teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
Graduate assistantships are at will, reappointed on a semester-by-semester basis, and are contingent on:
- Availability of funds
- Maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Making satisfactory progress toward the degree
- Completion of assistantship responsibilities
- Compliance with program and university guidelines, including the Student Conduct Code

Health insurance, benefits, retirement plan
If conflict arises, graduate students may seek support from trusted mentors, committee members, the Statistics Graduate Program Coordinator, or the Statistics department head. In some cases, it may be helpful to schedule a confidential appointment with an expert trained in conflict resolution through CSU’s Student Resolution Center

Bias incidents can be reported here

Any sexual misconduct or interpersonal violence must be reported to the Office of Title IX
